A full day of workshops and events in celebration of the one-year anniversary of the New Women Space, featuring an exhibition curated by BFA Visual & Critical Studies student Olivia Jane Huffman. Tickets $10 – $15; purchase here. Daytime events from noon – 6:00pm, evening events from 7:00 – 11:00pm. New Women Space, 188 Woodpoint Road, Brooklyn.
New Women Space is turning 1 year old.
Over the past 12 months we have hosted 150+ life affirming events and met so many amazing people in the process. The level of creativity and heart that has graced our humble space is surreal.
This calls for an all day celebration of programming and toasts to highlight amazing friends and contributors to NWS.
Help celebrate this milestone with what fuels us the most: your presence.
Note: This is a party but also a fundraiser. The purchase of your ticket will go to operating costs of New Women Space including space improvements, maintenance, and being able to continue to provide low-cost programming.
Any additional donations you can make in addition to your ticket purchase are greatly appreciated.

Our daytime event (12pm-6pm) is $10 for access to all workshops and events, featuring:

Intuitive Health Workshop
Getting (and staying) healthy can be easy! It doesn’t have to involve calorie counting, restriction, or guilt over eating the cookie. Join Wellness Coach, Holly Toronto, as we discuss a new paradigm for feeling amazing in our bodies.
During this workshop you will learn:
*Why women feel shame about their bodies and food
*Why calorie counting, restriction and guilt don’t help
*How to smash the food rule book
*How to intuitively choose the best foods and activities so you can create your own, unique expression of health
This will be an interactive workshop with time for Q&A.
The Joy of Change: Zine Making with Femme Mâché x It’s Not Personal
Change can be scary, unwanted, and unsettling. But change also often brings about renewal, surprising inspiration, and unexpected goodness. Join NWS residents Femme Mâché and It’s Not Personal in a fun zine-making workshop where we’ll explore the joys and rewards of change, and you’ll leave feeling hopeful and revitalized. We’ll provide all sorts of inspirational materials and all of the supplies you need to art, collage or write your heart out.
After the workshop, we’ll collect everyone’s creations and create a community zine, which will be published online and displayed at New Women Space in recognition of their anniversary.
SELF-DEFENSE WORKSHOP by PopGym
Palm Heels for the people! Don’t get that joke? No worries! Come by this FREE workshop to learn some introductory skills that will keep you feeling safe. We’ll be covering the basics: stretching, conditioning, technique, and theory, with the hope that participants will leave with some super useful foundations that will aid them in the day-to-day. Mix that in with some sweat and some movement, and you’ll have an accessible and confidence-boosting good time for all. Whether you are a beginner, or someone with experience, come work it out with us!
Open to all ages! We’ll be moving around, so participants should wear clothing in which they are comfortable stretching and sweating.
POP Gym is a new project, working towards opening a physical space in Brooklyn that offers free self-defense, fitness, and skill share classes 7 days a week. As we continue planning, we invite you to come by any of our events this summer!
