This Thursday, October 29th from 7 to 10 pm: “A Ghost Walks Through a Bar,” a Hallowsevening video screening organized by alumnae Harris Bauer and Rachel Zaretsky

Here’s an announcement that I received yesterday from VCS class of 2015 alumna Harris Bauer about a project that she and fellow alumna Rachel Zaretsky are organizing for this Thursday evening:

Rachel and I have just sent out invitations for the first project we are organizing post: our 148 Stanton space. We are putting together a Hallowsevening screening, with video works by about 15 artists and one live performance by Julia Santoli. It will be taking place in a children’s birthday party venue that also doubles as a haircutting salon (for children) in Ridgewood. We thought we’d reach out and see if you might want to post something on the blog about this. We’ll definitely send over photos in the future or a promotional image but we really just want to get the word out for now. So here is what we sent out in our Facebook event invite:

a ghost walks through a bar

A Ghost Walks Through a Bar: you couldn’t tell, but he was trying to buy you a drink. Maybe what gets me doesn’t get you, but I’m horrified.

You’re invited to a Hallowsevening event after hours at Smiles N’Styles. All the children have gone home, but you’re still there. You’ll have to find other things to be entertained by, now that all the arcade games are switched off and Mom forgot to pick you up.

Video Works by:
Lily Roche — Brogan Drissell –Get Your Life! Productions –Rachel Zaretsky — Corbin Ordel — Emerson Rosenthal — Rachel Wark — Oliver Levine — Kieran Magzul — Conner Calhoun — Holly Harrell — Yulia Zinshtein — Julia Santoli — Tenten Yan — Rivers Plasketes

Live Performance by: Julia Santoli

Sanchez Swamp Juice and other spooks provided.

We’ll be pressing play promptly at 7:30pm.
And remember, ghosts don’t attend, they come thru.
