This Monday, March 14th at 6:30 pm – VCS presents “Court and Cosmos: The Great Age of the Seljuqs” in room 101C at 133 W 21st Street

BFA Visual & Critical Studies presents a conversation with Dr. Deniz Beyazit, curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on the upcoming exhibition on Court and Cosmos: The Great Age of the Seljuqs. This exhibition highlights one of the most productive periods in the history of medieval art in the regions comprising Anatolia, Iran, as well as parts of Syria and Iraq (11ththrough 13th century) that is reflected through the expansion of glazed ceramics, fine metalwork, wood, and glass and the rise to a market for luxury goods, as attested by the textiles and manuscripts that remain from this period. Moderated by BFA Visual & Critical Studies faculty Peter Hristoff, the evening will conclude with a brief Q&A.
