In addition to serving as Chair of the Visual & Critical Studies and Art History Departments, Tom Huhn is also coordinator of SVA’s Honors Program, a curriculum “designed to bring talented, intellectually ambitious students together to work closely with one another and with specially selected studio and liberal arts professors, this small, interdisciplinary program unites the liberal arts (literature, history, philosophy and art history) in order to focus on the historical and thematic connections among them.” (For more information, see SVA’s program description, from which the preceding quote was taken.)

Every year, the third-year students in the Honors Program take a trip abroad during spring break, during which they have a chance to study art, architecture, and cultural history in situ. Prior destinations have included Florence, Italy; Mumbai, India; Oaxaca, Mexico; Palermo, Sicily; Istanbul, Turkey, and Prague in the Czech Republic, among others.

This last spring, the Honors students went to Poland, where they visited the cities of Warsaw and Kraków. VCS Senior Systems Administrator Justin Elm recently uploaded a set of images from the trip to the VCS Flickr page; I’ve posted a few of them here, and you can find the rest—46 in all—in this photoset. (Later this summer, I will post images from a some of the other Honors Program trips.)
