On Friday, July 1st, a short film by VCS student Lucia Hinojosa will be screened at Anthology Film Archives as part of the New Filmmakers Summer 2011 film festival. Originally created for a class taught by VCS faculty member Joseph Tekippe, the film presents Lucia’s response to Charles Baudeliare’s poem “Get Drunk” (see below).

You can learn more about Lucia’s film at this page on the New Filmmakers web site, and also on the flyer shown here, which she also designed. (To download sharper images of the flyer, see the links below.) The New Filmmakers festival will run for six days beginning on July 1st, and will present a wide range of documentaries, short films, and feature-length films. You can find a full schedule at this link.

Update, 6/29/2011:

A few days after I posted this piece, Lucia contacted me to let me know that The Mexican Cultural Institute of New York has agreed to sponsor the distribution of her film. As of this writing, the film is at the top of the Featured Events section on the Institute’s web site, with additional information provided on a separate page.
