Here’s an announcement we’ve received from 2016 VCS alumna Julia Stoddard about an upcoming group exhibition that she’s participating in. The show will include a piece that Julia created during her recent VCS-sponsored residency at the Leipzig International Art Program:

Dear Friends,

After a satisfying span of being away, I’m writing to invite you to an exhibition I’m participating in called Earshot at Outpost Artists Resources. In the exhibition I will have a stringed instrument which adapts the space it is installed within as a resonant body. I spent much of my time developing and playing this piece, what materialized from the idea of an omnipresent harp, during my recent residency in Leipzig, DE.

Earshot is an exhibition of interactive sound sculptures inhabiting Outpost’s beautiful space at 1665 Norman St. in Ridgewood, Queens (off the Halsey L). The opening reception is from 6-9 this Friday, Sept 22, coinciding with Bushwick Open Studios. There will be an evening of performances on Saturday, Oct 14, 7-9, which I’m most excited to partake in. It would be a great pleasure to see you at either event.

Happy fall equinox,

take care,
