On March 14th, VCS fourth-year student Joana Fittipaldi performed at Judson Memorial Church in New York in dis connected, a project in collaboration with Swiss/Portuguese choreographer, dancer-performer, and artist Sophia Ribeiro.
dis connected was part of a larger a larger performance program presented by Movement Research, a New York organization dedicated to the investigation of dance and movement-based forms. The project dis connected reflects some of the research work initiated by Sophia Ribeiro during fia laboratories and espaço experimental at cem – centro em movimento in Lisbon and during ex.e.r.ce module #3 research program at Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier in France.
dis connected was first performed in New York on February 23, 2011 at Movement Research Open Performance, an event presented at Dance Theater Workshop that was moderated by Laurie Berg. A third performance will be held at SVA during the VCS open studios on April 28th, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. (I will post an announcement and more information about open studios as the date gets closer.)
