Taylor Baker: Systems
The Department of Visual & Critical Studies and the Flatiron Project Space are pleased to announce a solo exhibition of recent works by Taylor Baker (SVA in Rome 2014, BFA SVA/ VCS 2015). Baker presents a series of stylized systems, investigating subjects such as form, function, and phenomenology through elements of lax & levity. In pursuit of a state of equilibrium, these works demonstrate efforts to evoke or embody a sense of ‘otherness,’ while paradoxically being composed of such. In spite of their discernible assemblage, these forms seem to neglect their own multiplicity and practicality in light of another; questioning intentionality and the suggested nature of things. The exhibition will be open to the public on Thursday, February 16 through March 15th, 9am to 9pm (Monday through Saturday).
