Opening Reception May 17th, 6-8pm

The FlatIron Project space is pleased to announce an upcoming site specific installation, Phantasmagoria, by Spencer Razick. The exhibition opens on Thursday, May 17th, with a reception from 6 to 8PM, and runs through June 15th. The artist, an alumnus of the Department of Visual and Critical Studies of SVA (BFA, 2016) has prepared the following statement about his work:

In life everything we come in contact with is the base of what it means to be human, whether it be through sight, smell, sound or touch.  All we have are our senses to help guide us through decision making and creating our understanding of the world.

For this exposition I’m juxtaposing different types of visual stimuli in an attempt to express the magnitude of different perspectives individuals can hold in this world. With such a compilation of imagery, viewers are able to share an experience while each having an unique interaction and relationship with the work. It’s important for us as humans to reflect on what we’re exposed to; to make conscious decisions about how we move forward and what we would like our reality to evolve into.
