Art school can be a cocoon, providing a built in support system. Following graduation young artists often find it difficult to navigate the art world. Questions of “what is next?,” “how do I continue my practice?,” and “is this new work any good?” are common. As a response to these quandaries, Jessica Stoller formed a critique group to bring together a supportive network of peers.
For this talk, three of its members – Elizabeth Glaessner, Jessica Stoller, and Robin Williams – present their work and experiences, discussing how to form an active group as a strategy to successfully move out of the classroom and into the world in a sustainable way. Presented by BFA Visual & Critical Studies and moderated by artist and SVA faculty LeighBehnke, the event will conclude with a brief Q&A.
