Virtual Drawing Marathon #5
Please join us on Monday, July 20 at 6 PM for Virtual Drawing Marathon #5: MONUMENTS.
In this, the last in a series of “word association” drawing marathons with VCS instructor Peter Hristoff, participants will make works connected to the the idea and meaning of “monuments”. The differences between a memorial and a monument, the relevance of public sculpture, what is celebrated, what is destroyed (what stays and what goes!) will be considered.
Working quickly from imagination, participants will need 40 sheets of paper, black ink, bamboo or watercolor brushes, cups, a rag and water. Suggestion: consider gessoing 40 full-size sheets (pages) of (a) newspaper for this session. The “ghost” images of the newspaper that will bleed through, along with the flat surface of gesso are a great ground for ink drawings.
The event is open to the BFA Visual & Critical Studies community: faculty, students, alumni, prospective students and staff! For more information, please contact Paloma Crousillat at firstname.lastname@example.org.
