Triad, curated by Kara Rooney, opening this weekend at FiveMyles Gallery

This Saturday evening from 5 to 9 pm, FiveMyles Gallery in Brooklyn will host an opening reception for two new shows including Triad, an exhibition of recent work by Brooklyn-based painters Yevgeniya Baras, Mike Cloud, and Zachary Wollard curated by VCS faculty member Kara Rooney. In the painterly practices of each of these artists, notions of iconography, history, language and material coalesce in startlingly personal ways, offering a refreshing take on discourses surrounding contemporary painting, community and inner worlds.

The exploration and representation of cultural identites, the attachment to childhood totems, and the use of semiotics are at the core of Sewell’s recent work.

Gallery Hours: Thursday to Sunday, 1-6pm
Directions: Take 2, 3, 4 or 5 trains to Franklin Avenue. Walk two blocks against the traffic on Franklin. Turn left on St Johns Place and walk ¾ block to FiveMyles.
FiveMyles is also within easy walking distance from the Brooklyn Museum and the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum (2 and 3 trains) subway stop.
