Barbara Rose, art historian and critic, will dialogue with Lynn Gamwell, SVA art history faculty, about the medieval Beatus manuscripts, in which she has discerned a peculiar concept of space that reappears in modern art. This topic resonates with Lynn’s new book, Mathematics and Art: A Cultural History, in which she says that culture’s understanding of ultimate reality relates directly to how people conceive the geometry of space and the arithmetic of time.
