This coming weekend (December 14th and 15th), The Degenerate Craft Fair will return to New York for its fifth annual run. The DCF is organized by VCS alumna Shannon Broder; this year, she’s being assisted by VCS student Berny Tan, who is acting as Sponsorship and Press Coordinator. Here’s the fair’s press release, which contains a lot more information about the venue, schedule, vendors, and more (you can also download it by clicking here):

For immediate release
We are pleased to announce the 5th annual Degenerate Craft Fair!
Created for artists, by artists, the Degenerate Craft Fair is not your average craft fair. The DCF transcends the line between art and craft, showcasing artists selling affordable versions of their work, dedicated craftmakers who take unconventional approaches toward traditional techniques, and even small independent businesses that produce their own honey, lotions, and soaps.
This year’s fair returns to the DCTV Firehouse. We will feature over 40 vendors, with most items selling for under $50. So stop by the Degenerate Craft Fair to find the perfect handmade gifts for everyone on your shopping list!

There are several people from the Visual & Critical Studies program among this year’s participants, including faculty member Amy Wilson, students Amanda Spinosa, Conner Calhoun, and Kylie Lefkowitz, and alumna Brooke Tomiello, who will be there with Kayrock Screenprinting. The Degenerate Craft Fair is well worth checking out; it’s a lot of fun, and there are always some great items on sale.
You can find a lot more information at the Degenerate Craft Fair website (linked above), including links to vendor websites, press, and information about its past incarnations. You can also read about last year’s DCF in this VCS blog post, which also includes links to other posts about earlier fairs.
