Since graduating from VCS back in 2011, Shannon Broder has been very busy both inside and outside the SVA community. In addition to running Broderpress, which she founded in 2009, she’s also worked as a Printshop Technician in the BFA Fine Arts Department’s printmaking studio. More recently, she’s been teaching printmaking and related subjects at Marymount Manhattan College, and has joined the VCS faculty. A few days ago, Shannon sent us an update about what she’s been up to. Here’s what she had to say:

I recently started teaching in the VCS program and this fall I’ll be teaching a new class about silkscreen and small business [editor’s note: see below for more about this].

Broderpress has been doing really well and is now in over 200 stores.

I have also been teaching up at Marymount Manhattan College for the past year, in the fall semester I teach a silkscreen class and a printmaking fundamentals class, and in the spring semester I teach silkscreen as entrepreneur and a bookmaking class. I’m the only printmaking faculty up there so they have been super supportive and let me build my own curriculum from scratch.
